NOBODY EVER NEEDS TO DIE FROM AN OPIOID OVERDOSE NOBODY EVER NEEDS TO DIE FROM AN OPIOID OVERDOSE NOBODY EVER NEEDS TO DIE FROM AN OPIOID OVERDOSE

StopODinAZ was born out of a need. A need for change in the the way society sees people who use drugs

Who is StopODinAZ?

 Kim Boardman

As a licensed master's level addictions counselor and a certified harm reduction therapist, Kim has earned the nickname "The Needle Lady" for her unwavering commitment to providing harm reduction services and support to her community. With numerous affiliations across various community organizations, Kim brings a wealth of experience and empathy to her work at StopODinAZ.org.

 Mark D. Cain
Mark D. Cain is a co-founder of StopODinAZ.org and has been a colleague of Kim Boardman for nearly two decades. With a background in street outreach and extensive experience in opioid treatment programs spanning more than 20 years, Mark is affectionately known as "Methadone Mark." His deep-rooted dedication to helping individuals affected by substance use disorders has been instrumental in shaping the outreach and advocacy efforts of StopODinAZ.org

We have seen people who use drugs treated poorly, like less than human.

This person refused to go the emergency room, “because they will put me in the room, turn out the lights and forget about me like they always do”. The staff at WVHE did the best they could to help each week during Harm Reduction Friday. We made amazing things happen on the sidewalk every Friday morning, Thank you Charissa :)

StopOD is our attempt to make a difference. Thank you for helping to be the change

Next time you encounter a person experiencing homelessness, using drugs or experiencing a possible mental health crisis, pay attention to your first thought.

The one thing we can all do to begin to remedy these and other societal issues, is to consider our first thought when we see a person experiencing life’s challenges. That is where change truly begins, in each individual member of society’s thinking. Be honest with yourself. When you saw the picture above, what was your first thought?

This website lacks all the bells and whistles. What you have found are people who are here to answer your questions about opioids. Anything. Unbiased and honest answers, you won’t find medical jargon or big words. What you will find is a place to ask your questions, get a reply and feel like you found what you were seeking.

How can we help you?

We believe that every individual who uses drugs and experiences negative consequences of that use, deserves the right to equitable healthcare and to be treated with dignity, respect and consideration. If you or someone close to you is currently experiencing inequity in healthcare, speak up.  You have rights.  Never forget this!
